Swedish woman convicted of tricking her daughter into marriage – VP

In Sweden, the Södertälje District Court sentenced a woman to 120 hours of community service for trying to trick her daughter into marriage. This was reported by the social journalistic project Glasnaya with reference to the Swedinfo portal. She also has to pay her daughter compensation in the amount of SEK 30,000.

Earlier, the convict asked the girl to go to Dagestan for the “wedding of relatives”. Upon arrival in the republic, she was told that she should marry a stranger, with whom her relatives had agreed in advance – for refusing to marry she was forcibly held in the house, beaten and threatened with “honor killings.” The victim managed to contact human rights defenders and the Swedish police, who helped her escape. She is now in a safe place in Sweden.
