Recently gadgets became a hit in the beauty industry, especially during quarantine when salon treatments were unavailable. We’ve put together a few gadgets to take your personal care to the next level and save you a couple of salon trips.

Facial toning machine
NuFace Mini Wanderlust Collection

RUB 15,030

The NuFace Mini is one of those gadgets that stands like an airplane but actually works. The gadget’s action is based on the principle of microcurrent therapy, which stimulates the production of adenosine triphosphoric acid and helps to keep the skin toned, relieve swelling and inflammation, and correct age-related changes. Before the five-minute procedure, you need to apply a little guide gel to the skin (as the author of the Beauty Advisor telegram channel Kristina Oblomskaya says, you can use any water-based serum, aloe gel, or simply sprinkle your face with water), and then drive the device over your face until the signal. The effect of the procedures is cumulative and usually occurs after a few weeks, so be patient.

FOREO UFO Smart Face Mask

RUB 15,999

The Swedish brand Foreo is best known for its iconic Luna face wash. But we propose to pay attention to another interesting device that won the recognition of beauty lovers – the UFO smart face mask. According to the description, the device is able to get the most out of the cloth masks, as well as shorten the procedure from the usual twenty minutes to ninety seconds. The principle of operation is as follows: a cloth mask (they are sold separately) must be fixed to the gadget, and then driven over dry skin in circular massaging movements – including thanks to gentle heating, the device helps the active substances to be absorbed faster and more efficiently. The price bites, but it will take a long time to use such a device and “squeeze” everything out of the fabric masks. There is also a slightly more budgetary mini version.

“Smart” mirror HiMirror Slide

$ 199

A couple of years ago, we already wrote about a “smart” mirror that makes life easier with a handy makeup light. HiMirror is an even more advanced version. In addition to several modes of lighting the face, the device is able to analyze the condition of the skin (“reading” enlarged pores, wrinkles, redness, pigmentation and other features of the skin) and suggest how to adjust the care. Other interesting bonuses – using AR technology in the mirror, you can try on a variety of makeup, as well as watch YouTube tutorials and listen to music.

Lifting face massager MTG ReFa S Carat

RUB 10,666

We have already talked about the beneficial properties of facial massage: it disperses blood and lymph, and also improves skin tone. Moreover, it is just a very pleasant and relaxing procedure. The Japanese gadget ReFa is one of the most popular and proven devices for home facial massage. With the help of two faceted balls, the device grips a little (like with a manual massage) and massages the skin around the eyes, nose and lips, as well as between the eyebrows. You shouldn’t expect drastic changes, but in the case of any procedures, the main thing is consistency.

Body roller Esker Allover Roller

$ 65

While influencers and celebrities are praising jade facial massagers with might and main, the American brand Esker decided to go even further – and released a roller for the body. According to the description, the “everything” roller (this is how the name “Allover Roller” can be translated) is made of Xuyan Jade and is able to “cope with tension and swelling in the body, as well as improve the absorption of active ingredients in body products.” It is unlikely that it is very different from the usual massager roller, but it has a nice design and a comfortable handle.

Ultrasonic pore cleaner
Dermaflash Dermapore

£ 89

Dermaflash Dermapore is a home ultrasonic pore cleaning device. This is a two-in-one device: according to the instructions, you must first cleanse the skin, and then run it over the face (as shown here) – the gadget removes dead skin particles, and also removes dirt and sebaceous plugs from the pores. After that, you need to apply a moisturizing serum and repeat the procedure – the creators promise that this way the product will be absorbed even better.

Body massager Acera Lanshin Massager

$ 45

The Lanshin brand is based in Brooklyn, but flirts with the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (which also gave us the jade rollers described above). The massager, created in collaboration with the ceramic brand Acera, looks like a charming octopus. To use it, you need to pour hot water into the ceramic base, close the silicone lid and drive the massager over the areas of the body that cause discomfort. According to New York Magazine journalist Fiorella Valdesolo, the massager helped her relieve pain from tunnel syndrome and exercise.

Paraffin bath for hands and feet
HoMedics Paraspa Paraffin Bath

$ 50

Paraffin therapy is one of the most famous salon treatments that can soften the skin and relieve irritation (including eczema). The HoMedics compact bath will allow you to perform this procedure at home. To do this, you do not need to have special skills – just pour water into it, add cosmetic wax, and after the wax melts, plunge your hands or feet into the bath several times, waiting for each layer of wax to dry. As the final stage of the procedure, you should put on thermal bags and warm mittens, hold them for about twenty minutes, and then remove – the wax will come off along with the thermal bag. But if you don’t want to waste plastic for environmental reasons, you can put on the mittens without the bags – and then remove the wax yourself.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro

£ 430

And finally, the most futuristic gadget of our selection is the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare. The device will be of interest primarily to those with acne-prone skin: its action is based on the principles of light therapy, the effectiveness of which has been proven by a number of studies. The mask is equipped with 162 lamps – one hundred of them are responsible for the red light, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, and also reduces inflammation in the skin. Plus sixty-two blue light bulbs to kill acne-causing bacteria. One procedure lasts three minutes – you will look impressive, and the effect should come in two weeks (at least that’s what the brand promises). There are also more budgetary versions – for example, the Luma mask. The main thing is not to forget about eye protection.
